New Student Immunization Requirements
Welcome New Students!
ASU health services are open to all students regardless of insurance status. We encourage students to carry health insurance and offer both a discount service plan, Bridge Service Plan, Nurse Care Health Plan and a medical insurance plan, Aetna Student Insurance. We are also contracted with many insurance companies and will bill your insurance company for visits at your health center.
Immunizations:
Required Vaccine
The Measles vaccine (MMR) is the only required vaccination at ASU. Before a student can register, they are required to document that they've had two measles vaccinations (one of which must be dated after 1979), or a lab test showing proof of immunity to the measles (rubeola). The MMR vaccine is available for a fee at any of ASU's health services locations.
Students must submit the MMR Immunization Form (PDF) before they can register for classes. A student will see a MMR Immunization hold under "My Tasks" on My ASU until measles information is received and verified. Read additional information about MMR.
Recommended Vaccine
ASU health services also strongly recommends immunization against meningococcal meningitis and pertussis. In an effort to track meningitis immunizations, all students need to fill out a meningitis tracking form. Meningitis is a potentially fatal or devastating illness and the risk is higher for college students living in residence halls than for 18-23 year old persons not in college. The vaccination is available at the ASU health services.
Are you under the age of 18?
Arizona law requires parental consent to provide medical treatment for individuals under the age of 18. If you are under the age of 18, a Parental Consent form must be filled out by your parent or guardian.
